Phoebe Pan, OD

Doctor of Optometry

About

I was born and raised in Houston, Texas to immigrant parents. I studied biology and film at the University of Southern California as a presidential scholarship recipient. Afterwards, I graduated with honors from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry. I currently provide patient care for the three Chinese diaspora communities of New York City (Chinatown, Flushing, and Sunset Park). While I specialize in contact lenses and pediatrics, I also manage a mix of primary care, ocular disease, and surgical cases. I live in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn with my husband, daughter, and spunky maltipoo.

My clinical training includes a heavy emphasis on surgical co-management and ocular disease with primary eye care and refractive services as the foundation. I was an attending physician at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Bushwick, Brooklyn, consulting the emergency department regularly. For many years, I served as adjunct faculty for SUNY College of Optometry, teaching fourth-year optometry students on rotations in surgical practices. I have an extensive background working daily alongside premier ophthalmologists with specialties in retina, glaucoma, cornea, and cataract. My refractive and primary care experience ranges from luxury optical boutiques to the accessible Warby Parker.

From a young age, I trained in all forms of dance, performing and competing nationally. I am also a visual artist and photographer. I love hand-building, drawing, painting, and playing in different mediums of visual art. Currently, I am learning Arabic, drumming, and sewing.

My philosophy is that optometry is an art and a science. As such, the artist in me continues to inspire the clinician in me (and vice versa). My desire and purpose is to blend the highest level of patient care with my creative sensibility.

“She was super dope!! I recommended a couple of my friends to her because she’s professional but has a cool personality. 10/10 would recommend!”
